Don’t worry though! Marion, who is billed as America’s “anti-diet” expert, deciphers all the science into plain, enjoyable English. You won’t have to pull out a dictionary or go back to college for four years to get what Marion suggests and why he suggests it in “Cheat Your Way Thin”.
“Cheat Your Way Thin” is the culmination of years of research by Marion. In fact, he went through more than 300 medical research papers to create the Cheat Your Way Thin system. To be sure, he even practices what he preaches.

- Portion size – Rather than count calories or go crazy trying to weigh in food portions, Joel Marion makes it easy for anyone to figure out how much they should eat using the hand/fist/thumb method for doling out protein, carbohydrates and fat. A good size serving of protein is equivalent to the size of person’s palm; carbohydrates equal about the size of their fist and fats should be limited to a thumb unless they are more complex like nuts or cheese in which case two thumbs will do.
- Meal frequency – Marion is not a fan of eating one or two meals a day. Instead, he touts feeding and fueling the body on a regular basis. Between snacks and meals, he calls for six “feedings” per day.
Marion puts his plan all together in a weekly schedule that includes having high glycemic index/load days and low glycemic index/load days. He offers up meal ideas for those days and helps readers embark on a path to dietary success. The plan is broken up into three periods: the priming phase, the core phase and the maintenance phase. To be certain “Cheating” is easy, he gives plenty of examples of acceptable foods.
So, what about that cheating?
